Privacy policy
Pipelineflow Ltd (company number 16495997, registered office S08 Innovation Way, Genesis Centre, Stoke-on-Trent, ST6 4BF) is the data controller for what is described here. Contact: support@pipelineflow.co.uk. ICO registration: pending.
The short version: we do not track visitors. We only keep personal data when you buy OpenBillow or ask us for support, and only what we need to help you.
Visiting this site
No analytics, no advertising and no social-media widgets. Our host, Cloudflare, sees your IP address to deliver pages and block attacks, and adds two security and convenience scripts and one strictly necessary security cookie (cf_clearance) to public pages. See the cookie policy.
Buying OpenBillow
You buy through Gumroad, which takes your payment and gives you your licence key. Gumroad is a separate controller under its own privacy policy. We do not see your card details. We receive your email address and sale details from Gumroad when we check a licence key.
Support requests
When you press Send support request in Blender, the add-on shows you exactly what will be sent before anything leaves your computer. It then sends:
- your licence key (we store only a one-way hash of it, plus its last four characters) and your email address;
- your description of the problem;
- diagnostics: operating system, Blender and Python versions, GPU, driver and CUDA versions, Warp version, VRAM, the OpenBillow version and your domain settings. No file paths beyond what is needed, no usernames and no scene data;
- optionally, the end of your last bake log, if you tick that box.
We use it to answer your request. A language model running on Cloudflare Workers AI drafts a suggested reply from this text. A person reads, edits and approves every reply before it is sent, and nothing is sent to you automatically except an acknowledgement that we received your request. You can also email us instead; the add-on can save the diagnostics to a file.
The add-on only contacts our server when you ask it to (support requests, the engine download, the preset download and update checks), and only if Blender’s Allow Online Access setting is on.
Licence activation
To activate a licence key the add-on sends your key, your email and a one-way hash of your computer’s system identifier (the identifier itself is never sent). We store the key hash, the email, the hashed identifier and the first and last times it was seen, to enforce the activation limit in the Licence. We use this data only to verify your key, deliver downloads and answer support, under UK data protection law. A computer record is deleted 24 months after it was last seen; the key and email stay as the purchase record.
Preset downloads
When you download the preset pack we check your key and record the key hash and the time, for rate limiting. These records are deleted after a day.
Update checks
From version 0.5.1 the add-on can check for a newer version of itself and of the presets. The check sends only the add-on version, the system type (for example Linux or Windows) and the Blender version. It sends no licence key, email or scene data, and we do not store it.
Why we may use your data (lawful basis)
- Contract: checking your licence and giving you the support that comes with your purchase.
- Legitimate interests: preventing abuse and key sharing, limiting requests, and keeping the service secure.
- Legal obligation: keeping accounting records.
How long we keep it
Retention periods (set in the support service code and applied automatically each day):
- Support tickets and key claims are deleted 24 months after they were opened, once answered, closed or rejected.
- Tickets still open after 12 months are closed, and key claims still pending after 12 months are rejected.
- The diagnostics and bake log of a closed ticket are blanked after 6 months; your message and our reply are kept until the ticket is deleted.
- Computer records are deleted 24 months after the computer was last seen.
- We keep the hash of your licence key and the email it is tied to for as long as the key is valid, because that is the record of your purchase. If a key is revoked (for example after a refund), its email and order reference are removed after 24 months; the hash stays so the key remains refused.
You can ask us for a copy of your data or for it to be deleted by emailing support@pipelineflow.co.uk. We will do so, except what we must keep by law.
Who processes it for us
- Cloudflare: hosting, our support server and database, incoming email, access login for staff, and the Workers AI model that drafts replies.
- Resend: sending our emails to you.
- Gumroad: payment and licence keys, as described above.
Some of these providers are based outside the UK, mainly in the US. They transfer data under the UK’s approved safeguards.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, delete or export your data, or object to how we use it, by emailing support@pipelineflow.co.uk. We will reply within one month. If you are unhappy, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
